My Grandma McDaniel was the sweetest person to ever walk the planet. She had a large immediate and extended family for whom she was the quiet strength; she was a small but mighty, strong-minded woman. She steadfastly faced down everything life threw at her, but by the time she started to have symptoms that warranted testing, Stage 4 gynecological cancer had metastasized to her liver and her colon. She was a fighter throughout her life but the cancer was simply too far advanced to give her a fair fight and she was with us less than 6 months after her diagnosis. Our family is inspired to participate and support the Rivkin Center’s SummeRun until a reliable diagnostic test is developed to save women’s lives–the women we love like Grandma McDaniel.
