Drea is a 2-time cancer survivor and a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation. She is also a wife, a mother, and a small business owner. In June of 2009, at age 32, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. Her treatment lasted 6 months and included 8 rounds of chemo and a partial hysterectomy. In December of 2009 she was declared NED. In March of 2016, Drea was diagnosed with Stage 2B Breast Cancer. She elected to have a double mastectomy followed by chemotherapy, radiation, and breast
reconstruction. Drea realized the dream of becoming a mother through the help of a local fertility clinic, an anonymous egg donor and 2 different gestational surrogates. Drea has participated in the annual SummeRun since 2010. She is passionate about advocating for women’s health and using her story to build awareness for both Ovarian and Breast Cancer.
