Leela is a sophomore at UCLA studying Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. She is extremely passionate about women’s health and plans to build a career in medicine. Currently, she is a member of the American Medical Women’s Association and UCLA’s Student Wellness Commission SEARCH Committee, where she tutors migrant students in mathematics and English and organizes events promoting physical, mental, and social wellness among UCLA students. During the school year, she works as a pharmacy cashier and conducts research on cardiovascular calcification. During the summer months, she is an extended care summer camp intern who facilitates and supports creativity and innovation in children. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, trying new foods, exploring the city, and spending time with her friends, family, and pets. As a student ambassador of the Rivkin Center, Leela believes that equipping women with a better understanding of their bodies can empower them in early cancer prevention. She is excited to put Rivkin’s mission into action with the underserved community at UCLA!
